E-invoicing is a nationwide system based on the Peppol model. Invoices are created as structured data, validated and exchanged between supplier and buyer through Accredited Service Providers (ASPs), and reported to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
Businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an ASP by 30 October 2026 and start e-invoicing on 1 January 2027. Businesses below AED 50 million must appoint an ASP by 31 March 2027 and start on 1 July 2027. Check the Ministry of Finance portal to confirm your own scope and any exemptions.
No. A PDF, scanned copy, Word file or an email attachment does not qualify. The framework requires structured electronic invoice data that is validated by an accredited provider.
An ASP is a provider approved by the Ministry of Finance to send and receive compliant e-invoices for you. It validates your invoice data, exchanges it with your buyer's provider and supports reporting to the FTA. Always confirm that your provider is on the current official list.
TallyPrime holds your invoice data, but compliant e-invoices must travel through an accredited provider. How TallyPrime connects to your chosen ASP depends on your TallyPrime version and the provider, so do not assume it works out of the box. Global Software reviews your setup and handles the connection, customization and testing.
We review your TallyPrime version and configuration, check customer and supplier data for gaps (such as TRN and address details), confirm compatibility with your shortlisted ASP, and give you a clear plan for integration, testing and training.
It is risky to plan on one. The Ministry of Finance moved the ASP appointment date for large businesses from 31 July to 30 October 2026, but it kept mandatory implementation at 1 January 2027. The extra time was for choosing a provider, not for postponing the mandate.
Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025 sets penalties such as AED 5,000 per month for not implementing the system or not appointing an ASP in time, and AED 100 per invoice (capped at AED 5,000 per month) for not issuing and sending e-invoices. Commentary differs on when each penalty starts, so confirm the position with the FTA or your tax adviser.
